In 1980, I had the good fortune of living one block away from the first Whole Foods Store in Austin, Texas. I was in college and this was a local hang out for me and many of my friends. It was here that I discovered the quality and health benefits of eating organic foods. For 34 years, I have been an advocate of natural health through eating organic, delicious, nutrient-filled, real foods. The Organic Pantry Company was founded first out of my joy of cooking and second to share with you, my artisan approach to making simple foods taste like something you've never had before. I've started with granola using only ten organic ingredients and I deleted the "Oats" because so many people have inflammatory reactions from this grain. I use flaxseeds and quinoa flakes for the base of all of my granola flavors. The taste is addicting - like sugar, only instead of using artificial flavors or adding natural sweeteners (like maple syrup, agave, honey, and coconut sugar) I use pure organic dates. Did you know that dates have the lowest glycemic index of all these sweeteners? They are sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free and a good source of fiber which is why I added them into my granola. Most of my ingredients are super-foods and are rich with a variety of nutrients and true health benefits that I encourage you to read about each one of them on our ingredients page. I am proud to be cooking at the first "Certified Commercial Kitchen" in the bay area that is both "certified gluten-free" and "certified organic", allowing only certified ingredients to be used in this facility. It is the mission of The Organic Pantry Company to use only the best quality, 100% organic ingredients in all the products we bring to market. We source most of our ingredients in California and where it's impossible to get, like organic quinoa flakes, we buy them from local importers with impeccable reputations for quality foods.
